The origin of ai!culotte: A journey between Buenos Aires and Barcelona 🧵

You often ask me how this project was born. The how, where, and why of ai!culotte is not just a business story; It is the story of a life dedicated to creation, treasure hunting and love for the authentic.

The Why: The Happiness of Creating with Your Hands

For as long as I can remember, my happiness has been linked to creating. Whether it was paper, pencils, plasticine or ceramics, nothing fulfilled me more than transforming materials into something new to give as a gift.

That creative impulse soon joined my fascination with fashion. I grew up watching my mother make me custom-made clothes; dresses full of details and hand-knitted sweaters that made me “freak out in colors”. That’s when I understood the value of the unique: the magic of knowing that you have something made just for you, that there is no other like it in the world.

From vintage treasures to the dance floor

My personal style was forged by looking for pieces with soul, reusing and adapting vintage jewelry. I still remember finding a black satin corset in my grandmother’s closet. With my mother’s help, we adjusted it to my size and… Wow! I felt amazing dancing with him to the rhythm of Madonna!! That feeling of empowerment through a special garment is what I want you to feel with each piece of ai!culotte.

The How: A “bounty hunter” of textile treasures

As a teenager in Buenos Aires, I had a hard time finding clothes that identified me in the big stores. So I became a real treasure hunter.

I toured old haberdasheries, neighborhood stores frozen in time, and flea markets. That constant search confirmed to me that my path was to combine drawing and design with manual “making”. I studied Fashion Design to finally be able to shape my own ideas and wear my own creations.

The Where: Barcelona, my home and my workshop

For me, the place where it is created is as important as the garment itself. That’s why ai!culotte has to be “Made in Barcelona”.

I have lived in this city for 25 years and this is where I want my project to grow. I am passionate about local commerce:

  • Work with local workshops.

  • Share data with other creatives on where to buy the best yarns and fabrics.

  • Help each other to grow ethically.

I surround myself with positive and hardworking people who share my values: to help, to take care of the planet and to leave a better place for our children.

Much more than handmade lingerie

Today, each piece that leaves my workshop in Barcelona carries a little piece of that girl who painted, of the young woman who was looking for treasures in Buenos Aires and of the woman who believes in a slow, conscious and colorful fashion.

Thank you for being part of this story and for valuing the work behind each seam.
